Apartments-Condos, Clubhouse
Client: Grimm + Parker Architecture
Location: Frederick County, MD
Completion: 2024
Building Type: Apartments-Condos, Clubhouse
This project involved design and construction services for a 3-building apartment community located at an existing historic manor in Frederick, MD. The property was previously home to a former governor of Maryland. The historic manor was preserved and converted in a clubhouse. The new building consisted of a 4-story corridor style apartment buildings and two breezeway style buildings. Construction consisted of pre-fabricated wood floor and roof trusses supported by 2x bearing walls.
A major challenge of the project was analyzing the existing condition of the historic manor house to accommodate the new occupancy. Multiple studies were performed to determine the capacity of existing members. Structural repairs were performed to bring the manor up to code and serve as the centerpiece of the apartment community.
