The Parker

Project Overview

Located just minutes from the Huntington Metrorail station in Alexandria, Virginia, The Parker is a five-story, 360 unit apartment building designed and built “planet friendly”, with LEED certification and interior and exterior green materials and products. The community has an attached private garage with bike storage, dog run, landscaped courtyards and many other amenities. This project consists of two Type 3A residential buildings connected by a pre-cast parking garage. The residential buildings are 5 stories tall and are mostly slab on grade type buildings. Conventionally reinforced concrete transfer slab is utilized above the amenity spaces. Construction for the residential portion is prefabricated wood roof and floor trusses supported on 2x bearing walls. The residential buildings are supported on conventional spread footings which are bearing on "Ground Improved" soils. The ground improvement was done through geo piers by others; the parking garage was supported by pile foundations.
